Messaging
A conversation can start in Telegram or WhatsApp. The work stays with the team.
Choose which agent receives a connected account’s messages. Route a discovered group to another agent when that conversation has a different owner.
Two ways to reach your agents
Connect each channel from the Integrations page in Agent Flow.
-
Connect a Telegram bot
- Create a bot with @BotFather and paste its token into Agent Flow.
- Choose the agent that answers the bot. Each bot has one default agent.
- Direct messages reach that agent. In a group, tag the bot or reply to it.
To give the agent context from untagged group messages, make the bot a group administrator or turn off privacy mode in BotFather.
-
Pair a WhatsApp number
- Enter the number, then scan the QR code from Linked devices in WhatsApp.
- Choose the agent that answers direct messages, or no default agent.
- In a group, a message becomes an instruction when it tags the paired number or replies to it.
Pairing uses an unofficial linked-device client. Agent Flow asks you to accept the risk that WhatsApp could ban the number before you connect. Allowed senders can limit who may instruct the agent.
Agent routing
You choose which agent answers.
WhatsApp accounts can also be set to no default agent, so only the groups you route are answered.
-
Connected account
A bot or paired number
Messages arrive through the Telegram bot or WhatsApp number you connected. -
Default agent
The account’s agent answers
Direct messages go to the agent you chose for that account. -
Group override
A group can have its own owner
Route a discovered group to a different agent when that conversation belongs to someone else. -
Tracked work
The team takes it from there
The agent can record the request as an issue and hand it on. You follow and review it in Agent Flow.
Example
One message, carried by the team.
The chat is where you start. The issue is where the team works, so every handoff stays visible.
See how the team works- You, in Telegram
Message your Project Manager about an onboarding launch.
- Project Manager
Records the work as an issue with acceptance criteria and hands design to the Designer.
- Designer, then Engineer
The Designer leaves direction on the issue; the Engineer takes implementation and asks for review.
- You
Review progress on the issue, and return to the Project Manager in chat when you need to change course.
Good to know
Does every agent reply in my chat?
No. The agent routed to that chat replies there. Other agents do their part on the issue, where you can follow each handoff.
Can different groups talk to different agents?
Yes. A discovered group can be routed to a different agent from the account’s default. Direct messages always use the account’s default agent.
How do I start over or stop a reply?
Send /new to start a fresh thread with the agent, or /stop to interrupt the reply it is working on.
Why does a Telegram group not appear yet?
Telegram does not list the groups a bot has joined. A group appears once the bot receives a message there, so add the bot and send a message it can see.
Is this the WhatsApp Business API?
No. The WhatsApp channel pairs a number as a linked device. A separate WhatsApp Business connection through Composio gives agents tools only and does not receive messages.
